Go Fish Montana · Technology

The bridge from tech to fly fishing.

Fly fishing and technology aren’t the usual pairing, but we enjoy both. This is a place for the projects we build between river days, what we learn along the way, and where an idea might take us next.

Grounded on the water

River days. Projects after dark.

A day on the river and an evening building something at home fit just fine together. Some nights that means fixing network lag, printing a fishing indicator on a 3D printer, or adding a switch to a home or business network. There’s usually something to figure out, and that’s part of the fun.

Now more than ever is a great time to work with technology. Documentation, classes, code, and new tools are at our fingertips. Old hardware is finding new uses, from a spare computer running Linux to equipment that gets another job instead of being replaced. You can start with a question, learn what you need, and build something of your own. This page gives those experiments a place alongside the fishing.

Project showcase

What we’re building.

Two of these three projects began as college capstones. They need a home beyond the classroom, and this is it. Each project has a different job, with its own page to follow as the work develops.

WitnessWater

In development · homepage coming soon

WitnessWater is being built to put water readings next to observations from the river. A gauge tells you how much water is moving; understanding the stretch you plan to fish takes more context. We want the location, source, and time easy to check, with field notes alongside them. Better water information belongs at GFM because it helps people make a more informed plan before heading out.

RiverLink

In development · homepage coming soon

RiverLink is our project for connecting river information with the people and plans around it. Guides and anglers often piece trip details together from several places. We want useful river information and the next step in planning easier to find and follow, at a desk or on a phone beside the boat. That’s its job here: helping someone get from reading about a river to making a workable plan.

FLY AI · EDDY

In development · homepage coming soon

FLY AI is where we’re developing EDDY, an AI partner for the work around fly fishing. We’re starting with GFM’s own needs: keeping track of trip work, reviewing information, and preparing recommendations we can check ourselves. Less time sorting notes means more attention for clients and the river. EDDY is still in development, and bookings, messages, and decisions stay with us.

Keep following the idea

Keep learning. Keep building.

Some ideas help with fishing. Others belong at home, on a network, or wherever curiosity takes us. We’ll share progress, lessons, and links as these projects find their own homes. The fishing is what brings us here, but there’s plenty worth exploring after the gear is put away.
